An MCP connector lets an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT see live data in another app and take supported actions there, with your permission. You set it up once inside your AI app. The Superfiliate MCP is a connector for your creator program.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT connect to outside apps and data. For marketers, the practical meaning is simple: your AI can work with your live data instead of files you paste in.

No. An agent is a type of AI that works out the steps and does a task for you. An MCP connector is what gives that AI access to an app. With the Superfiliate MCP, your assistant passes requests to Superfiliate's agent, which works in your account with your permissions.

No. You add it inside your AI app, sign in with your Superfiliate login, and choose your stores. After that, you just ask questions in plain language.

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Codex, Claude Code and Cursor all work with it, and so can other apps that support MCP connections.

No. It only reaches the stores you authorize when you connect, and it only sees what your own Superfiliate login can see. To remove access, disconnect it in your AI app and ask Superfiliate to remove the user, which can take a few business days.

An MCP is a connector. It lets the AI you already use, like Claude or ChatGPT, see live data in another app and take supported actions there, with your permission.

Ask better, get better with the Superfiliate MCP. Name the metric, the timeframe and the creator program, and you'll get a number you can defend rather than a vague overview.

Judgment stays with you. The Superfiliate MCP handles questions and bulk tasks; budgets, strategy and creator relationships are still yours to own.

If you ask someone running a creator program whether they use AI, the answer is increasingly “yes.” That's reflected in a new question we've been hearing a LOT from influencer marketers lately:

"Does Superfiliate have an MCP?"

But for every marketer asking that, there's another five more asking:

"What is an MCP connector , anyway?"

Put simply, an MCP connector lets the AI tools you already use see live data inside another app and take supported actions there, with your permission. The Superfiliate MCP does this for your creator program. Ask Claude or ChatGPT who your top creators were this month, and the answer comes from your actual Superfiliate account using live data (not the spreadsheet you pasted in last Tuesday).

The term MCP wasn’t even on the roadmap for most of us a year ago, but MCPs for marketers are the great unlock we’ve all been looking for: A way to liberate data from inflexible dashboards, and get quick responses to questions that used to take hours or even days via a RevOps or Engineering team.

But MCP isn’t the only term floating around. Add agents, APIs, and connectors into the mix, and it’s not surprising marketers everywhere are scratching their heads and wondering how all of this fits together.

That's exactly what this blog is for. Read on!

MCP explained: What a connector actually does

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that lets AI systems connect to outside tools and data (that's the last time we’ll be using the full name, we promise).

The word that really matters here is connector. Without an MCP set up, getting an AI assistant to help with your creator program means exporting a CSV of reporting, pasting it into a chat, and hoping the numbers are still current by the time you share them.

With a connector, your chosen AI assistant can ask the app directly for that reporting in response to your prompt. No exports, no copy-pasting.

If you've ever connected Klaviyo to your Shopify storefront, the concept is the same. You approve the connection once when you set it up, and the two tools can talk to each other from then on.

The Superfiliate MCP works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Codex, Claude Code, and Cursor. You add it inside your AI platform, sign in with your Superfiliate login, and choose which stores it can use. An email login can connect up to 10 stores at once, while a Shopify sign-in connects that one store.

Here's how to connect the MCP in Claude or ChatGPT, step by step.

MCP vs agent vs API: the three words everyone mixes up

An API is a door into software that developers write code against. An agent is AI that works out the steps of a task and carries them out. An MCP connector is what lets the AI you already use get through that door, without anyone needing to write custom code. We break down MCP vs API vs integration in more detail if you want the side-by-side.

When you connect the Superfiliate MCP, your chosen AI tool hands your request to Superfiliate's own agent, which does the work inside your account under your credentials. It sees exactly what your login can see, on the stores you’ve given it access to.

However, an MCP cannot run your creator program for you. It won't set your budgets, hand you industry benchmarks, or decide your growth strategy on your behalf. It doesn't know your brand’s margins or your retail calendar. That’s the insight the influencer marketer needs to bring to the job.

It’s also important to note that an MCP connector isn't the same as an automation. A rules-based automation fires on the same event every time, like sending a reminder seven days after a gift goes unclaimed. The MCP acts precisely when you ask it to. You need both of these in place to run a successful creator program at scale.

What an MCP changes for a marketer running a creator program

Creator programs rarely get more difficult to run because of the creators themselves. The problem is that scaffolding around your program just wasn’t designed to be scalable: the reporting, the status checks, knowing which creators didn’t post or didn’t complete their deliverables.

The more creators you add to your program and the more campaigns you run, the harder it is to maintain all of those touchpoints that keep your program healthy: Regularly benchmarking performance, checking budgets, and making sure creators are engaged and driving sales.

This is where an MCP for influencer marketers completely transforms how you run a program. Answering a question like "Who were my top creators this month?" used to mean pulling a report, filtering it, exporting, and tidying it up before leadership saw it.

Now, it's a question you type in your AI chat window, and the internal agent goes to work.

But this means that the skills that matter for running a program have shifted slightly. It's less about knowing exactly where the data lives, and more about knowing what specifically you need to know and how to ask for it.

Compare these two prompts:

"How's my program doing?"

"Compare creator-attributed revenue for my ambassador program in Q3 against Q2."

The first prompt will get you a vague overview that isn’t going to stand up in a retro with your Head of Growth. The second gets you a solid number and a story you can take into a meeting and rigorously defend.

What doesn't change? The relationship building with creators. Understanding whether a piece of content is actually good and likely to drive sales. Knowing which creator needs a phone call to feel excited and engaged, rather than an email. That's the type of judgment that influencer marketers have spent years building, and there’s no connector on the market that replaces it (not even Superfiliate).

What the Superfiliate MCP lets you ask and do

The Superfiliate MCP does two core jobs:

1. It answers questions about your live program with up-to-the-minute data.

2. It takes on supported tasks on your behalf.

For example:

"What's my total gifting spend this month?"
"Who were my top creators this month?"
"How did Q2 compare to Q1 on creator-driven revenue?"
"Which briefs are currently overdue?"

These prompts all give you a near-instant snapshot of different areas of your program, without needing to dig into the platform yourself.

Then, there’s the work of actually running the program. The admin that used to eat up an entire afternoon becomes one core instruction that applies to records in bulk.

Ask it to create a new program from scratch, update the products on your cobranded landing pages, or start Autopilot discovery to find creators who fit your brand (expect follow-up questions about audience, follower range and content style, exactly what you'd expect a good coordinator to ask!)

Do you really need an MCP?

If you're already using AI in your influencer marketing workflows, you've done the hard part. Remember that an MCP connector doesn't ask you to learn a whole new tool or suddenly become an AI expert.

It lets you zoom out that little bit further to see everything that’s happening, join the dots, and make better-informed decisions about how to grow your program without sacrificing the human touch.

The best first step is small. Connect your MCP, and then try asking one question you'd normally need a spreadsheet to answer. That’s all there is to it.

See every prompt type and connect your assistant on the Superfiliate MCP page.
