The Superfiliate MCP answers creator questions. Ask your AI assistant about creators, commissions, gifting and creator-driven revenue in plain language, using the Shopify orders and products Superfiliate already syncs.
The Superfiliate MCP can also take supported actions. Hand off tasks like bulk creator tagging and setting up gifts, working under your own Superfiliate login's permissions.
Shopify's MCP covers a different job. For total store revenue and stock, add a Shopify Admin connection and ask those questions in a separate chat.
Search "shopify mcp" and you'll find a ton of different setup guides for developers, shopping assistants and store admins. But if you try asking one of them who your top creator was last month, you'll hit a wall.
The Shopify MCP and the Superfiliate MCP accomplish different tasks in managing your creator program. The Shopify MCP covers your store: storefront, customer accounts and developer docs. The Superfiliate MCP covers your creator program: who's enrolled, what they earn, which gifts shipped, and creator-driven revenue from the Shopify orders it already syncs. For creator questions, connect Superfiliate first and add Shopify's for the whole-storefront view.
Here's a deep dive into what each MCP can actually see, and where to use the Shopify vs. Superfiliate MCP in the running of your creator program.
What Shopify's MCP tells you (and what it doesn't)
Here's the catch with the Shopify MCP: It isn't just one thing. An MCP (short for Model Context Protocol) is a connector that lets an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT reach into another app and use its data, with your permission. Shopify runs several of these MCPs, and each one has a specific job with access to different types of data.
For example, the Shopify Storefront MCP connects an AI agent to a store's catalog, cart and return policies, so shoppers can browse and buy through an assistant rather than using the actual webpage. The Customer Accounts MCP handles customer requests, like checking an order status. Shopify's Dev MCP connects coding tools to Shopify's API documentation, so developers can build faster on Shopify's stack.
Those official servers are built for shoppers and developers, so none of them hands you back-office store data like total revenue or inventory. Merchants who want that usually connect a community-built Shopify MCP server that wraps Shopify's Admin API instead.
But even the most complete Shopify connection has blind spots, and this is a problem for marketers who are trying to reconcile Shopify data with what they have flowing through other platforms.
A Shopify connection can show you which orders used the discount code MARISOL15. What it can't tell you is that Marisol is a creator in your ambassador program, what commission she earns on that order, or whether her most recent gift has shipped.
Why? Because Shopify isn't where this information lives. Your source of truth is your influencer marketing platform, and this data isn't always accessible to your favorite AI tools.
Where your creator program data lives (and why Shopify can't see it)
Your creator program uses a different set of records to your Shopify store. Instead of order data or unprocessed returns, what you need to see at a glance is:
- Creator-attributed revenue,
- Who's enrolled across your programs.
- What commission tier they're on.
- Which gifts have shipped but haven't turned into posts yet.
This is why a Shopify connection alone cannot answer even simple questions about your creator program. The good news is: you don't have to stitch the two together yourself.
For Shopify brands, Superfiliate already syncs your products and SKUs and attributes your orders to the creators who drove them. What Superfiliate's MCP adds to the equation is being able to answer questions about creator revenue and performance. No more exporting two CSVs and lining up order numbers right before a leadership meeting!
Three workflows that need both MCPs
Three jobs creator teams ask about most as Q4 gets closer. Each one has a creator half and a store half. The Superfiliate MCP handles the creator half. The store half comes from Shopify through a community-built Admin connection.
Revenue by creator: Superfiliate MCP, then Shopify for the store-wide share
Use your favorite AI tool to ask who drove the most revenue last quarter, or how this quarter compares to the last. Name the metric, the timeframe and the program, and you get a number from your live program data. Through a Shopify Admin connection, you can pull total store revenue for the same period and see what share of it creators drove.
Gifting from inventory: Superfiliate MCP for the send, Shopify for the stock
The Superfiliate MCP can pull your synced Shopify products and set up gifts, so the admin of building a gifting send becomes a couple of instructions. The store half is live stock, and that lives in Shopify. Make sure you also check there rather than just asking the Superfiliate MCP, and do it before you commit a hero product to a campaign. A sold-out gift is an awkward email to write!
Q4 planning: Superfiliate MCP for creator history, Shopify for the store side
This is where AI helps you to think, not decide. On the creator side, your chosen AI tool can pull last year's creator performance (if your program was running on Superfiliate then) and show you which products drove the most affiliate revenue over the holidays, which is invaluable for informing campaign strategy. On the store side, a Shopify Admin connection can show last year's total sales and what you have in stock heading into Q4.
What it won't do is tell you how to use your holiday budget, or hand you live industry benchmarks. Those strategic calls depend on your margins, your promotional calendar and your goals, which is exactly what your CSM is there for.
Here's a few prompts to start out with once you're connected:
- "How did Q2 compare to Q1 on creator-driven revenue?"
- "Which products generated the most affiliate revenue this quarter?"
- "Pull all my Shopify SKUs."
- "Which creators have gone inactive in the last 90 days?"
Setting up the Superfiliate MCP (and adding Shopify if you need it)
The Superfiliate MCP works with any Superfiliate account. You add it inside your chosen AI app with the server URL https://mcp.superfiliate.com, sign into Superfiliate, and choose which stores it can use.
Note that a Shopify sign-in connects to that one Shopify store. An email sign-in can connect up to 10 stores at once, which is the best route for agencies and for brands that work only in Meta, TikTok Shop or YouTube. The step-by-step guides for Claude and ChatGPT walk through both.
We recommend connecting the Superfiliate MCP first, then adding a connection for your Shopify admin data (see the note above and Shopify's own docs) if you need the whole-store view.
Once you're connected, your assistant can do anything your own login can do, including bulk actions. Before you confirm a bulk task, look at which creators and which action it's about to run. See what the Superfiliate MCP can do and how to connect it.
